If you wish to carry outearthworks, it is important to first detect the presence of pipes. Today, most existing underground networks are made of PVC or HDPE. To detect them, it is necessary to use detectable needles whose signal is captured by network locators such as the VSCAN or the RD7100DL+. Thanks to these devices, professionals can make extremely precise detections.

Location of PVC networks using a detectable needle

The detectable needle is used with locators for the detection of PVC conduit. It is also suitable for work detecting and locating gas connections. Since these pipes are not "emissive", it is the needle which will serve as a detection and tracing point for the locator. The process therefore consists of introducing the detectable needle into the pipe, to then locate it using the electromagnetic field that it will emit. The locator will then allow you to trace the entire conduit into which the needle was inserted.

The tracing distance with a detectable needle

Available with several lengths, you can draw a network over a distance of 150m, 200m, 250m and even up to 300m. With the use of a localisant VSCAN or VLOC to locate a detectable needle and thus trace the pipes, the risks are considerably reduced.
