The TX5 frequency transmitter has a power of 5 Watts. It allows its user to use active frequencies between 98 Hz and 200 Khz (multi-frequency).

Attention to detect the pipe/network, you must be equipped with a network locator.

A 5 Watt frequency transmitter adapted to field conditions

The TX5 generator has a transmission power of 5 Watt and has active frequencies from 98 Hz to 200 kHz (multi-frequency), SD mode (signal direction) and fault finding mode (Fault-Find). It is equipped with a backlit display showing output current, connection type, voltage, resistance, frequency, battery level and high voltage.

It provides constant output current in direct clamp or induction connection with grounding. Thanks to the 5 Watt generator, you can power a conduit or a needle up to 150 meters. With a robust and ergonomic IP54 design, it is perfectly suited to professional use.

Important: to detect the pipe or network, you must be equipped with a locator such as the Vscan® or the vLoc 3 Cam, as well as a detectable needle for non-conductive networks.

How to trace a non-emissive network?

A locator only detects emissive networks (live electrical cables or telephone cables for example). For non-emitting networks, it is necessary to provide an emitting source to make them detectable.

For locating, tracing or avoiding networks, use the generator accompanied by a locator for emissive networks and add a detectable needle or probe for non-emissive networks.

Two scenarios:

  • Non-conductive pipe (PVC, PE / HDPE, etc.): connect a detectable needle to the generator with the alligator clips provided — red clips between the generator and the needle, black clips between the generator and earth. When switched on, the needle becomes emissive over its entire length and can be located on the surface with the locator.
  • Conductive pipe (stainless steel, cast iron, etc.):
    • By direct connection: clamp the pipe with the alligator clamps — red clamps on the pipe, black clamps on the earth. The generator makes the pipe emissive and detectable on the surface.
    • By induction: without access to the pipeline, place the generator on the ground connected to the ground. The signal will stick to conductive materials — a less efficient method than a direct connection.

Is a needle essential in a conductive pipe?

No. If the pipe is made of cast iron or any other conductive material, the simplest solution is to induce the network with a transmitter clamp:

  • By pliers: plug in the pliers, turn on the generator, then locate the surface conduit
  • By induction: without access, ground then turn on the generator — the signal will stick to conductive materials
